About

Dr Helen Bintley is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education at KMMS where she is Academic Lead for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Student Selected Components (SSCs). Dr Bintley achieved a medical degree from the University of Manchester in 2008, an MA in Medical Education from UCL/ IOE in 2019 and she is a Senior Fellow of the HEA. She is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Kent. 

 

Dr Bintley has a considerable academic portfolio with expertise and experience in leadership, management, communications and partnership building, scholarship, teaching and assessment.

Research interests

Dr Bintley's research interests include identity, education theory, faculty development, EDI, and LGBTQ+ healthcare experiences. Current research projects include a national collaborative faculty development project with ASME EDC and she is a researcher on the LEAP study.

Teaching

Dr Bintley has extensive experience of teaching a number of academic subjects in clinical settings and higher education. These subjects include applied medical sciences, clinical decision making, clinical and communication skills, medical humanities and ethics, EDI, assessment, professionalism, and faculty development.
