KMMS Student Life and Guidance (SLG)
SLG can provide guidance to students on KMMS policies/ procedures such as applying for mitigation and provide basic pastoral support and signposting to other services/resources.
Students do not need to speak with SLG and can access the services below directly if this is more appropriate. If you/they have any queries or would like support accessing the below, please contact SLG via studentsupport@kmms.ac.uk
Students can book a SLG meeting using the online booking form.
Immediate out of hours support
- University of Kent Nursing Services available to all students 24 hours during the University of Kent term time for minor illness or mental health support.
- Spectrum Life provides support for mental health crisis outside of working hours. Available from 8 pm – 8 am Monday to Friday. Telephone 0800 0318227 or text ‘Hi’ to 00353 87 369 0010.

Mental Health/Counselling
- Speak to a Mental Health Adviser from Kent Student Support and Wellbeing (Kent SSW) by contacting kentssw@kent.ac.uk
- Access up to 5 counselling sessions through the University of Kent. They offer online and in-person appointments and can offer out-of-hours appointments if needed. Email counselling@kent.ac.uk to arrange.
Learning Disability/ADHD/Autism
- Speak to a specialist adviser from Kent SSW by contacting kentssw@kent.ac.uk
- Advisers can complete basic screening and provide support for more formal diagnosis.
- Contact information can be found on the Student Support and Wellbeing website.
Inclusive Learning Plans (ILP)
ILPs states reasonable adjustments to support students with particular needs engage with learning. They are created and updated by Kent SSW for students with any health problem or disability (including mental health or learning difficulties).
- To create a new ILP students need to register with the Kent SSW team. The team will then arrange an appointment with the most appropriate adviser.
- To update an existing ILP the student can contact their specific named adviser, or email kentssw@kent.ac.uk
Study skills
- Student Learning Advisory Service at University of Kent provide resources on their website or students can book a 1:1 appointment.
- Access the Study Skills hub on KMMS learn for more resources and signposting to other services.
Financial Support
- Various funds available through Kent can be found here.
- Students can contact Kent Union Advice Service for in depth financial advice.
Support on placement
- Students can still access the university support outlined above.
- They also can speak to the trust Undergraduate Administration teams if they have questions relating to their placement/ accommodation on site.
- Individual trusts may also have wellbeing support services available to students.
