Year 2 Students Present Project at International Conference in Bali

KMMS Year 2 students Krittika Vasudevan and Abdullah Kassim recently presented their Y1 SSC project at the 4th International Conference on Intelligent Cybernetics Technology & Applications 2024 (ICICYTA 2024) in Bali, Indonesia.

Their presentation was based on a paper co-written by Krittika Vasudevan, Abdullah Kassim, Dr Hannan Bin Azhar (CCCU), and Dr Soumya Manna (CCCU) titled, “Parkinson’s Tremor Suppressor: A Spring-Based Attenuator System.” The research explores the design of a prototype aimed at attenuating tremors, particularly experienced by individuals facing passive tremors associated with Parkinson’s Disease.

Krittika shared: “Representing KMMS at the ICICYTA International Conference was truly inspiring and a moment of pride. Engaging with professors from various backgrounds and countries provided me with a fresh perspective on developments outside of medicine in the UK. We were also inspired by the vibrant culture of Bali and had the opportunity to tour the area with fellow researchers, which again, was a great opportunity for us to get to know each other.”

Reflecting on the experience, Abdullah explained: “The trip to Bali was amazing! It’s the furthest I have ever travelled from the UK, so it was wonderful to experience such a different culture and environment. It was positive to be surrounded by people from a range of fields who shared their knowledge and took an interest in our work which was incredibly beneficial. Overall, it was amazing to make so many new friends in Bali, including students and professors.”

Krittika added: “It was a truly unforgettable trip to grow both academically as well as personally.”
