Intercalation
The MSc, PgCert / PgDip Clinical Education course is also available full-time for one year for intercalating third and fourth-year medical students from September 2026. During this time, you will learn alongside interprofessional clinical educators. This intercalated MSc in Clinical Education reflects the General Medical Council’s (GMC) notion that ‘all doctors are teachers.’
The MSc is open to eligible KMMS students, as well as students from other medical schools who are undertaking intercalation. It offers an opportunity to acquire and develop a greater understanding of teaching and learning, which can be valuable in your medical career.
Completing the MSc will be equivalent to earning a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical or Clinical Education, a credential that many doctors pursue later in their careers. We expect intercalating students to engage in 20 hours of teaching practice throughout the year, and we can help provide suitable teaching opportunities locally.
