From September 2026 Kent and Medway Medical School, in collaboration with Canterbury Christ Church University,is expanding the Interprofessional PgCert/Master’s in Clinical Education programme to allow future students to choose between the current hybrid course with a mix of both in-person and online teaching, or opt for the new fully online distance learning course.
Course Director, Dr Tim Collins says:
“I am delighted to announce this change – it has been a direct response to feedback from future applicants and from local, national and international healthcare providers.
It has been a great team effort launching the course this year and we are keen to build on this and offer multiple study options for future students keen to launch or develop their clinical and medical education careers”
The first cohort of students who have all done the hybrid version of the course are now nearly 2/3 way through and the feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive with over 90% recommending the course. Students have said they feel the facilitators are supportive, approachable and genuinely invested in helping us grow as educators.
Dr Nicole George-St Louis, PGCert students says:
“I am really enjoying the PGCert in Clinical Education. I have learnt so much, and I can feel myself becoming more reflective in my own approach, which has been one of the most valuable parts so far.
Managing the PG cert alongside other commitments takes careful planning, but it’s been the right kind of stretch. The learning is meaningful, practical, and already shaping my teaching practice”
Fellow student, Dr Katie Cartledge, says:
“As a result of the high quality teaching, I have already found myself implementing much of the teaching theory I have learnt on the course in my day to day work at KMMS.
One of the highlights of the course has been the opportunities to get to know and learn from the other students on the course who are from a range of clinical education backgrounds”
