Mr George Kennedy

Honorary Doctor of the University of Kent, George Kennedy was employed within the medical industry for 30 years with Smiths Industries plc. He served as Chairman of the Medical Systems Group and a main Board Director. He was also Deputy Chair of the East Kent Hospital Trust for a number of years and worked closely with Government including chairing Department for Trade and Industry committees on health care. He was awarded the CBE in 1997 for services to the healthcare industry and exports.

A Kent Ambassador, George is a life member of Kent County Cricket Club, and was formerly Club Chairman. He was a driving force behind the substantial development programme that has established the St Lawrence Ground as one of the best in the country.
