On Saturday 15th March, Kent and Medway Medical School welcomed 148 guests to its annual Offer Holder Day, hosted at the Verena Holmes Building on Canterbury Christ Church campus and the Pears Building at the University of Kent.
Guests had the chance to explore our two campuses and attended an array of engaging talks presented by KMMS staff and students.
Tours were also given of the Simulation Suite and Anatomy Learning Centre, where student ambassadors were able to demonstrate some of the clinical skills and anatomy knowledge taught within these facilities.
Year 5 student Hannah played a key role in the simulation suite throughout the day, assisting with everything from orienting guests to simulation fundamentals to essential procedures like CPR and auscultation. Working alongside fellow ambassadors and KMMS staff, Hannah helped make these demonstrations both educational and engaging for offer holders. Reflecting on the day, Hannah shared:
“It’s always a joy to be a part of these days. I remember going to my offer holder day unsure of where I would accept but came away after talking to the staff feeling this would be the right place for me. I want to do justice to the amazing environment at KMMS. I love talking to students and their families about my experiences and hearing what’s on their minds. The sim suite is always fun and a great chance to show the hands-on jobs they’ll be doing.”
Attendees also got the chance to join our Meet the Students sessions, being able to ask the important questions about KMMS life.
Year 5 student Nasr had this to say about the event:
“I always enjoy working on offer holder days and seeing future students so eager to learn, practice, and understand what I and other medical students do day-to-day. It makes me realize and appreciate the amazing things we get to do over five years.”
