KMMS Library

KMMS students and staff have access to library services at Canterbury Christ Church University and the University of Kent. From Year 3 onwards students will also have access to NHS Trust libraries.

The KMMS library is primarily a digital library that offers students and staff core resources for learning, teaching and research whenever and wherever they need them. Both universities also provide state of the art library facilities at the Templeman Library, Augustine House and the Drill Hall Library in Medway, offering students access to print collections, to technology rich learning spaces and to support services.

The KMMS library works with the Vertical Theme Lead for Innovation in Health Care on the “Digitally Enabled Doctor of the Future” initiative, which aims to ensure that our students become doctors who work confidently and competently in a digital environment and develop a culture of innovation. In addition, the library also supports the Vertical Theme Lead for Scholarship and Scientific Enquiry to develop students’ academic and research skills.

Learning Platforms for Students

Alongside traditional library resources such as books, e-books, journals and databases, KMMS is committed to provide students with innovative online platforms to support their learning.  Students and staff have access to

  • OSMOSIS (log-in required), a learning platform based on short animated videos, question banks and flashcard covering the core content of the medical curriculum.
  • RX Bricks (log-in required), a platform using short, interactive learning units called “bricks” to learn pre-clinical and clinical content
  • Complete Anatomy an up-to-date anatomy app using male and female 3D models and interactive screens inspired by Gray’s Anatomy
  • Capsule a clinical case-based learning resource which combines trusted clinical cases, medical scenarios and analytics to drive medical knowledge across the entire curriculum.

KMMS LibrarySearch

KMMS LibrarySearch is our discovery tool, where  students and staff can find books, e-books, journal articles or access databases relevant for their programme. KMMS LibrarySearch searches across the holdings of both universities.

KMMS Library on the Student Portal (log in required)

KMMS Library section on the Student Portal contains important information about the library services in Augustine House, the Templeman Library and the Drill Hall Library at Medway such as borrowing items, printing and document delivery.
