Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) is excited to announce that it will host the National Student Psychiatry Conference (NSPC) 2026, taking place from Saturday 24th to Sunday 25th January 2026 in the Pears Building on the Canterbury campus.
Organised by the KMMS Psychiatry Society, this student-led, annual event—supported by the Royal College of Psychiatrists—brings together medical students, educators, and professionals from across the UK to engage in an exciting programme of student and faculty-led workshops and speaker events, all centred around our theme: “Mind the Gap – Bridging the Brain, Body, and Society.”
The conference will feature a dynamic programme of student-led and staff-led sessions, keynote speakers, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities. With a focus on the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of mental health, NSPC 2026 aims to create a holistic understanding of psychiatric care.
Keiru Ajuzieogu, President of the KMMS Psychiatry Society and co-organiser of NSPC 2026, shared her thoughts on the upcoming conference:
Bringing NSPC 2026 to KMMS felt like a natural next step after attending the 2025 conference in Leeds. As a newer medical school, we’re passionate about putting ourselves on the map and highlighting local Psychiatry research and initiatives.
Sophie Krug, Vice President of the KMMS Psychiatry Society and fellow co-organiser, added:
“We are thrilled to be hosting the 2026 RCPsych Student Conference at KMMS. This is a valuable opportunity for us to promote the field of Psychiatry both within Kent and beyond. We’re excited to provide a platform where students and staff can share their work, connect with others, and delve deeper into their interests.”
The announcement has also been warmly welcomed by Professor Chris Holland, Dean of KMMS:
“Encouraging students to consider careers in Psychiatry has been a cornerstone of the KMMS mission since we opened. I am delighted that Sophie and Keiru put in this bid and absolutely thrilled they were successful. I look forward to welcoming students from across the UK to the conference next year.”
