Intercalation - Kent and Medway Medical School

Kent and Medway Medical School

Intercalation - MSc in Clinical Education (2026 Entry)

Programme Highlights

  • Intercalation offers an opportunity to acquire and develop a greater understanding of teaching and learning, which can be valuable in your medical career.
  • Completing the MSc will be equivalent to earning a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical or Clinical Education, a credential that many doctors pursue later in their careers. This is equivalent to a formal teaching qualification that can be used in academic or clinical practice.
  • We expect intercalating students to engage in 20 hours of teaching practice throughout the year, and we can help provide suitable teaching opportunities locally.

Professional Recognition and Accreditation

  • Intercalating students who complete the PgCert will be eligible for Membership of the Academy of Medical Educators (AoME) via the AccreditationPlus route, subject to approval.
  • Please note: Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA) is not available to intercalating students.
