The Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) is delighted to announce that its PGCert in Clinical Education has received AccreditationPlus from the Academy of Medical Educators (AoME) - a mark of excellence in medical education.
This prestigious recognition highlights the course’s outstanding quality. In its review, AoME commended the programme:
- “The course clearly exceeds the standards for accreditation with clear inclusion of theory and scholarship as being core of the course with a very detailed submission.”
- “The course has been explicitly mapped to the AoME standards and domains.”
- “The Assessment process is clear and closely linked to the philosophy and learning outcomes.”
- “The course provides self-assessment and reflection through different assessments.”
The PGCert forms the mandatory first step of the new MSc in Clinical Education, launching this September, which is delivered by KMMS and accredited by Canterbury Christ Church University.
Dr Tim Collins, the Programme Director, said:
“This accreditation enhances the credibility of our course and its recognition among medical, dental, and other healthcare professionals involved in clinical education. It places us on equal footing with other leading medical schools.”
Graduates of the PGCert will also benefit from fast-track membership of the Academy of Medical Educators, further supporting their professional development. This membership allows individuals to use post-nominals, indicating their expertise in skills and knowledge within medical education. Additionally, it signifies their commitment to the core values of the AoME, recognising their achievements in a manner similar to membership in a medical or surgical Royal College.
