About

Aman Rattan is a Research Assistant, working with Professor Lisa Dikomitis, who leads on a GNCA and ODA funded project, entitled Engaging local communities around perceptions and understandings of mental health interventions in South Asia (India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka). She also works on KMMS mental health research with the Kent Sikh community, co-led by Professor Lisa Dikomitis and Professor Sukhi Shergill.

Aman is a Sikh and Punjabi speaking mental health researcher. She has worked as an Assistant Psychologist and Mental Healthcare Assistant in London, accumulating professional clinical knowledge and working alongside healthcare professionals.

Aman completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of West London (2021), achieving a First Class Honours. Her undergraduate thesis used quantitative survey research methods to investigate The BIG 5 personality traits relationship with Social Support, Self-Efficacy, Depression, Anxiety and Stress. She also holds a Postgraduate degree in Clinical Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London (2022), passing with distinction. Her postgraduate thesis used qualitative methods to thematically understand the coping, adjustment and resilience of males in higher education.

Research interests

Aman’s research interests lie in Social and Cultural Psychology, qualitative research methods, Wellbeing and Mental Health in the Sikh and Punjabi community
