Welcome to the Offer Holders 2025 webpage. Please visit this page regularly for important information and updates in the coming months.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Information
If you are a FIRM (either conditional or unconditional) offer holder you should have completed your DBS check. Please note we will not need to see your DBS certificate unless there are any flags raised on your check. In this instance we have a protocol that we will follow which will start with a meeting with you and the Head of Admissions to review your certificate.
Please make sure to register with the DBS Update Service once you have received your certificate. Please note that registration must be done within 30 days of the certificate date.
International students will need to provide their Police Letter of Good Conduct, but if you are an international student based outside the UK at the moment you will complete your DBS check when you arrive in the UK.
Inclusive Learning Plans
If you have a disability, physical or mental health condition, or specific learning difficulties (SpLDs), it is important that you contact the University of Kent Student Life and Guidance Team to talk about getting an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). An ILP helps KMMS establish any reasonable adjustments that you may need.
You can organise an ILP before you start your course or at any point during your studies. It is important to note that we can’t implement any reasonable adjustments until your ILP is live on your student record, so we suggest you arrange an ILP as early as possible. This is particularly important if you believe you will need adjustments for your placements. If you have any concerns or questions about this, please get in touch with us via studentsupport@kmms.ac.uk.
Visas for International Students
If you require a student visa to study in the UK, we recommend you start preparing your application soon. You will not be able to submit a visa application until you have an unconditional offer from KMMS, but we recommend you start thinking about your visa application early so that you are ready to apply as soon as you meet the conditions of your offer. You can find information about applying for a visa on the websites below:
Disabled Students Allowance
Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) provides funding for additional support for students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs), mental health conditions, physical disabilities and long-term health conditions. Student finance (England, Wales or Northern Ireland) will assess whether you are eligible for DSA and what support can be funded. You can apply for DSA when you apply for student finance online. If you have any questions about DSA, you can contact us by emailing studentsupport@kmms.ac.uk for guidance.
Student Finance Application
Applications for student finance are open for the academic year 2025/26.
The course has been set up under the University of Kent and not under KMMS, as this is the school, not the institution. The Student Loan Company course code is 869289, and the course is listed as Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. The university course code is MEDICINE:BMBS
It can take 6-8 weeks to process an application, and sometimes longer if they require more information from you or someone else connected to your account. If you are eligible to apply and have not done so already, we recommend you do so as soon as you can to ensure your funding can be paid when you start your course. Some helpful websites:
We have information about funding your degree and tips on how to budget for your degree on the KMMS website. If you are having issues with your funding application, you can contact us via studentsupport@kmms.ac.uk for guidance.
Accommodation and Travel, and Expenses Policy for Placements
In your first year, you will attend a GP surgery placement which is located in Kent. If your placement provider is over 50 miles away or a 1.5-hour commute, you will be able to book accommodation for yourself, which we will refund. The request to book has to be approved in advance, and then you will be able to claim this back afterwards, following the procedure outlined in the Travel and Accommodation Policy. Please note that depending on when your claim is submitted and when your next placement week is, you may not have received reimbursement for your first week before you need to book your second week. If you have any concerns about budgeting for this, please contact studentsupport@KMMS.ac.uk.
